How Biometric Underwriting Scans Work

From applicant smartphone scan to structured underwriting data in under a minute — here is how the technology integrates into your pipeline

Simple Steps to Get Started

Measuring your vitals takes less than a minute

1

Embed the Scan in Your Application Flow

Integrate the biometric scan step into your digital application or agent-assisted workflow. Applicants are prompted to complete a 30-second smartphone scan as part of the standard application process, with no additional hardware or app installation required beyond the existing application interface.

2

Applicant Completes Biometric Capture

The applicant holds their smartphone at arm's length in reasonable lighting conditions. The camera captures high-frequency video of the face for 30 seconds. On-screen guidance ensures proper positioning and lighting for reliable signal extraction.

3

On-Device Signal Processing

Algorithms running entirely on the applicant's device analyze facial video to extract cardiovascular and hemodynamic signals. Heart rate, HRV, blood volume pulse characteristics, and stress markers are calculated locally. No facial video leaves the device.

4

Structured Data Feeds Your Decision Engine

Quantified biometric results are transmitted as structured data to your underwriting automation platform via secure API. Your rules engine or algorithmic model incorporates these signals alongside traditional application data to determine the appropriate underwriting pathway.
